Event Details
After more than forty years of committed activism all around the world, a path Helena Norberg-Hodge first embarked on after seeing the detrimental impacts of economic globalisation on the remote mountain region of Ladakh, Helena Norberg Hodge published in 2019 a new book entitled ‘Local is our Future – Steps to an Economics of Happiness’. This book summarizes the iniciatives around the world to claw back control over their own economies, and in doing so are rebuilding connections to one another, while repairing fractured communities and damaged environments. At the forefront of this inspirational movement is the creation of local food systems. But there are other clear trends in the same direction – in finance, education, renewable energy, governance, and much more.
The book El futuro es local is launched this summer in Spanish, translated by Jesús Iglesias Saugar, who also writes an introduction about localization experiences in the different regions of Spain.
