Free City! The Fight for San Francisco’s City College and Education for All

“The Fight for City College of San Francisco and Education for All” panel on Thursday, May 13th from 5:00pm – 6:30pm PDT via Zoom. Co-sponsored by the Center for Political Education (CPE) and PM Press.

Panelists will include Marcy Rein, Vicki Legion, and Mickey Ellinger, co-authors of Free City! The Fight for San Francisco’s City College and Education for All (PM Press, 2021) and moderated by Jason Ferreira, a member of the CPE Community Advisory Board and chair of the Department of Race and Resistance Studies, College of Ethnic Studies, San Francisco State University.

The panelists will lay out the policy agenda behind the attacks on City College of San Francisco that began with the threat to the college’s accreditation in 2012. They will share some of the organizing lessons from the five-year labor-community campaign that kept CCSF open and accredited – and talk about how those lessons might apply to the ongoing defense of the school and its model of liberatory, open-access education.
